Pumpkins are not in short supply at Foxtail Hollow. Neither are fallen leaves, glowing lanterns or places to point a camera, and I could happily have spent the whole afternoon here.

I decided to pay a visit after seeing an invitation in the Second Life Destinations Facebook group. The owner, B.Whisper, had opened the land to visitors, inviting everyone to explore, relax and take photographs. It sounded well worth investigating, and I was not disappointed by the sheer amount of autumn decor waiting to be discovered.

A Woodland Full of Autumn Colour
Foxtail Hollow is a flat parcel, but you hardly notice that as you wander among the trees. Golden yellow, russet and orange foliage mingle with tall evergreens, while paths lead between little clearings and tucked away corners. Pumpkins appear everywhere, sometimes in clusters on the ground, sometimes hanging from trees or incorporated into imaginative seasonal displays.

There is a lovely variety of places to explore. I came across a disused steam engine tucked beneath the trees, an old orange Volkswagen Beetle with a pumpkin perched on its roof, and a little tree house reached by ladders. Each makes a good photograph, and there are plenty of other interesting features to spot if you look for them.

One particularly inviting spot is the campfire, surrounded by rustic log seating. It looks just the place to settle down with friends for a while, surrounded by the autumn woodland. Elsewhere, glowing pumpkin lanterns hang among the branches, adding another splash of colour to the already richly decorated setting.

Pumpkins, Playtime and Halloween Fun
The pumpkin displays are a highlight, with a patch full of growing pumpkins, rustic farm details and a rather splendid Pumpkin Keeper. Ghostly decorations and Halloween characters add a playful touch without making the destination feel frightening.

There is also a dedicated play area, complete with swings, slides and other equipment, making Foxtail Hollow a welcoming place for child avatars as well. I don’t have a child avatar, but the animations worked perfectly well with my Dinkie, so smaller avatars of all kinds should be able to join in. The little trick or treaters outside the house door were another delightful detail, bringing a little Halloween fun to the photographs.

Inside the House
The autumn theme continues indoors. The house has a beautifully decorated kitchen, a comfortable looking lounge and an entrance hall filled with pumpkins and seasonal accessories. Rich colours, warm lighting and carefully arranged furnishings give the rooms a cosy feel, offering a change of atmosphere from the woodland outside.

Do remember that the upstairs area and all bedrooms are off limits, as specified by the owner. The rest of the destination is open for visitors to enjoy.

Worth a Visit This Autumn
Foxtail Hollow is a destination where it pays to take your time. There is no need to follow a particular route or rush from one attraction to another. Simply wander among the trees, look out for the little surprises and find your favourite spot for a photograph.
If you are looking for an autumn setting in Second Life, whether for photography or simply a pleasant place to explore with friends, Foxtail Hollow is well worth a visit.
